The Man of Lawlessness' connection with Babylon the Great.

Babylon the Great 'Posted

Christ said the evil slave would be lumped in with the confirmed drunkards. Who are the confirmed drunkards? They are none other than Christendom. Who is the main part of BTG? When BTG is punished the evil slave is assigned to be punished with the hypocrites, the confirmed drunkards, Christendom, BTG. Thus they become part of BTG. This evil slave is the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction who betrays the true sons of God.

3 Let no one seduce YOU in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction. 4 He is set in opposition and lifts himself up over everyone who is called “god” or an object of reverence, so that he sits down in the temple of The God, publicly showing himself to be a god.

48 “But if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, ‘My master is delaying,’ 49 and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, 50 the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, 51 and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites. There is where [his] weeping and the gnashing of [his] teeth will be.

The Man of Lawlessness lifts himself up over EVERYONE who is called a god and is set in opposition to God's true sons and his Kingdom. He PUBLICLY shows himself (Baal worship BTW) to be a god thereby showing that this Man of Lawlessness gains quite a bit of power. He becomes part of BTG. He beats his former fellow slaves and eats with the drunkards.

I believe the thing that acts as a restraint is mainly Jesus and could possibly be the true sons of God also. The fact is that he was the one that told Judas to go do what he was going to do more quickly at the Passover. So once Jesus released Judas, he accomplished his betrayal. Likewise in the future when Christ's presence starts, he will release the Man of Lawlessness to go do what he is going to do more quickly.

"And so, having dipped the morsel, he took and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Is·car´i·ot.

27 And after the morsel then Satan entered into the latter. Jesus, therefore, said to him: “What you are doing get done more quickly.

6And so now YOU know the thing that acts as a restraint, with a view to his being revealed in his own due time. 7 True, the mystery of this lawlessness is already at work; but only till he who is right now acting as a restraint gets to be out of the way. 8 Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence. 9 But the lawless one’s presence is according to the operation of Satan with every powerful work and lying signs and portents 10 and with every unrighteous deception for those who are perishing, as a retribution because they did not accept the love of the truth that they might be saved. 11 So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie, 12 in order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness."

Just as Judas was overtaken by Satan so the Man of Lawlessness is also. Even though Judas had just spent three and a half years with the Lord, he betrayed him because he did not have the love of the truth in him. In the same way the Man of Lawlessness will betray the true sons of God and his master Jesus Christ.
