Divination and Teraphim (idolatry) Part II

As talked about in part I, divination and teraphim (idolatry) equal rebelliousness and pushing ahead presumptuously. The definition of divination by the Society in the Insight book is: Divination embraces generally the whole scope of gaining secret knowledge, especially about future events, through the aid of spiritistic occult powers. Definition of Rebelliousness: Disobedience or resistance to and defiance of a superior authority. Pride, selfishness, outside pressures, disagreement with the judgment of a superior, and a desire to get out from under subjection or oppression, either real or imagined, have been among the leading causes for rebellion. It is easy to see how divination and teraphim are lumped together, you cannot really have one without the other. Rebelliousness and presumptuousness are also seen hand in hand. But how do the first two compare with the last? How can they become one and the same? One speaking in falsehood or giving a false vision is said to be practicing divination. (Jeremiah 14:14) And Jehovah went on to say to me: "Falsehood is what the prophets are prophesying in my name. I have not sent them, nor have I commanded them or spoken to them. A false vision and divination and a valueless thing and the trickiness of their heart they are speaking prophetically to YOU people." To speak falsely and not in accord with the truth would constitute rebelliousness and to push ahead presumptuously. The Devil was the first one to speak falsely. Divination and lying are connected to the Devil the father of the lie. (John 8:44)" YOU are from YOUR father the Devil, and YOU wish to do the desires of YOUR father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of [the lie]. " Anyone who speaks of his own disposition and does not stand fast in the truth is praticing divination and idolatry which is equal to rebelliousness and presumptuousness. Just as King Saul was rejected as king so will be any who practice such things. 22 In turn Samuel said: "Does Jehovah have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Look! To obey is better than a sacrifice, to pay attention than the fat of rams; 23 for rebelliousness is the same as the sin of divination, and pushing ahead presumptuously the same as [using] uncanny power and teraphim. Since you have rejected the word of Jehovah, he accordingly rejects you from being king." Rev 22:15 Outside are the dogs and those who practice spiritism and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and everyone liking and carrying on a lie. (Revelation 21:8) But as for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and fornicators and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur. This means the second death." (2 Peter 3:17) YOU, therefore, beloved ones, having this advance knowledge, be on YOUR guard that YOU may not be led away with them by the error of the law-defying people and fall from YOUR own steadfastness. Zech 10 "Make YOUR requests of Jehovah for rain in the time of the spring rain, even of Jehovah who is making the storm clouds, and [who] gives a downpour of rain to them, to each one vegetation in the field. 2 For the teraphim themselves have spoken what is uncanny; and the practicers of divination, for their part, have visioned falsehood, and valueless dreams are what they keep speaking, and in vain they try to comfort. That is why they will certainly depart like a flock; they will become afflicted, because there is no shepherd." Anything that is fruitful needs to have rain. We also need to have insight from Jehovah in order to be fruitful. Let us pray for the insightful rain that Jehovah can give so we don't become a victim of falsehood and valueless visions that are of no comfort.
